Jaisalmer yellow stone

What is Jaisalmer yellow stone?

Jaisalmer yellow is a golden limestone quarried around Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The trade often calls it Jaisalmer marble, but it is a limestone. It gives a warm, sunlit yellow to floors, wall cladding and facades. It is softer than granite and needs sealing, so keep it away from kitchen counters and heavy outdoor wear.

Guide

Jaisalmer yellow stone: what to know before you buy

What Jaisalmer stone is

Jaisalmer yellow is a limestone from the Thar desert region of Rajasthan. Its colour ranges from pale gold to deep yellow, sometimes with small fossil marks. It is the stone of Jaisalmer's old buildings and is still widely used for facades and cladding.

Colours and varieties

Akrruthi holds Jaisalmer Yellow, Ita Gold and Flower Gold. They share the warm yellow ground and differ in pattern: plain, banded or flowered.

Finishes

Polished or honed for indoor floors and walls; plain unpolished or leather for a matt, textured look. Ask which finish is available when you enquire.

Where it lasts, and where it does not

It suits walls, facades and living-area floors. It is softer than granite, so avoid kitchen counters, driveways and areas of heavy outdoor wear.

What decides its cost

The variety, the evenness of colour across the lot, finish, thickness and the wastage your layout creates. Akrruthi quotes after you choose. No rates are given on this site.
