Where does travertine work well?
Travertine is a porous limestone with natural holes and a warm, matt character. It suits bathrooms, facades, pool surrounds and feature walls. It is sold filled, with the holes closed with resin or cement for a smooth surface, or unfilled for a rustic one. Vein cut shows stripes; cross cut shows a cloudy pattern.

Questions about travertine
Should I choose filled or unfilled travertine?
Filled for floors and bathrooms, where a smooth surface is easier to clean. Unfilled for walls and facades where you want the natural texture.
What is the difference between vein cut and cross cut?
It is the direction the block is sliced. Vein cut runs across the layers and shows linear stripes. Cross cut runs along them and shows a softer, cloudy pattern.
Is travertine slippery when wet?
Polished travertine can be. Choose honed, tumbled or brushed for bathrooms and pool areas.
