Where does sandstone work, and which finish should I choose?
Sandstone works outdoors: paving, garden paths, pool surrounds, compound walls and facades. Choose a natural (riven) or sandblasted finish for grip on paving, and honed for a smoother covered terrace. It is porous, so light colours should be sealed where oil, leaves or algae will reach them.

Questions about sandstone
Does sandstone get algae?
In shaded, damp spots it can. Seal it, keep drainage clear and clean with a stiff brush and a stone-safe cleaner.
Can sandstone be used indoors?
Yes, as wall cladding and in some floors in a honed finish. It is mostly chosen for outdoor work.
